Elliott Elementary will be celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 28th with our costume parade and classroom celebrations. Elliott along with three other K-4 buildings will be celebrating on a different day than October 31st . This decision was brought forth in August to Elliott’s PTO group which supported the decision along with the Leadership Team at Elliott. From an educational standpoint, Elliott would like to end the week with the celebration which allows teachers adequate time to frontload their pacing of instruction Monday-Thursday. It is our hope that by having normal routines during the day on Monday, October 31st it will lead to a greater chance for the rest of the week to be a typical week. I also took the opportunity to reach out to neighboring community schools and several are also celebrating on Friday. I apologize if there was any confusion prior to this communication. Classroom teachers will also be communicating specifics about that day that pertain to times and classroom activities.
Dear Elliott Parents and Students,
I am so excited to join the dynamic team at Elliott. I have heard amazing things about the staff and students and I can’t wait to meet everyone. This will be my fifth year as a principal, with seven years teaching experience prior to that. I have taught in elementary classrooms in England, New Zealand, and Michigan. I am a proud alum of Northern Michigan University and Michigan State University. I hold a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Teaching.
I look forward to returning to the Lansing area with my family after having been away for the past four years. My family includes my husband Matt and our three children, Harper, Caden, and Arlee. We are all Michigan State fans, but none more so than our dog, appropriately named Leonidas. He loves to walk around campus and get attention on game days.
Personally, I love to travel, most recently to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics, or small road trips around Michigan. I also love to read, and to watch musicals.
I am looking forward to meeting all of the Elliott students and their families! Feel free to stop in to introduce yourself. My first day at Elliott will be October 7th. If there is anything I can do for you, feel free to contact me at any time.
We are happy to have you visit the home of the Elliott Eagles, where students work hard to follow their Eagle I’s, showing how much everyone C.A.R.E.S. These letters stand for I will Cooperate, I will Achieve, I will show Respect, I will show Effort, and I will be Safe.
